Heart of the Music (Saints and Sinners #1) by Kaithlin Shepherd

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00058]
Saints and Sinners front man, Jarrod Banks, has the looks and the voice that make women swoon, and he knows how to take advantage of every lyric and every wink. Not used to having to fight for the attention of an attractive woman, he can’t help but be drawn to his publicist, Patricia, who refuses to play his games. She’s the one woman who’s love he’s going to have to earn and he’s not afraid to fight dirty.

Even managing a rowdy group of music sensations, Patricia Monroe is the consummate professional. For five years, she has kept her attraction to Jarrod under wraps, enduring his endless supply of women, but one day when locked in an elevator, revelations are made that could change it all.

When their relationship is put to the test, Jarrod is left with no other option than to pull every dirty trick in the book to show her she’s the only woman he’ll ever love.

Tag line: When stubborn and determined collide, sometimes you have to fight dirty to win.

I give this book 4 stars!

This book I enjoyed reading, it sucked me in right from the beginning, I thought the two characters Patricia and Jarrod had chemistry and I liked reading about their past and their present, I liked reading about the rest of the band.

I would have liked to have read about Patricia dating at least one man in the book because it shows Jarrod dating and I think it would have been fun to see Jarrod’s reaction and I thought Jarrod was a bit weak when it came to one part of the book, I would have liked to have seen him stick up for Patricia as she was supposed to be the one he loved despite them not dating each other at the time and I would have liked to have read more about them as I thought it ended too quickly.

They say that time heals a broken heart, but you try moving on when your ex is the most famous man on the planet.

Every time I walk down the street, there’s a billboard plastered with his gorgeous face: Finn McKay. Now he’s a drop-dead sexy rock star, but when I first knew him, he was just the boy from the wrong side of the tracks – and the first guy I ever loved. He broke my heart into a hundred pieces when he skipped town without saying goodbye – but now he’s back.

And he wants me.

I’m determined not to make the same mistakes twice, but the chemistry with Finn was always way too hot to ignore. He was the guy who had me sneaking out my bedroom window for just one more kiss, and breaking curfew parked by the riverbanks, steaming up his windows in the backseat of his car. The past five years have been good to him, real good, and between his dirty mind and that ‘I know how to make you scream’ smile, he’s breaking through my defenses all over again.

Maybe one last wild fling for old time’s sake is what I need to finally move on. But what happens when Finn wants more than my body?

This time he wants everything.

I give book 3 stars

This book I thought was good at the beginning and I enjoyed reading the flashbacks about how Eva and the bad boy of the town Finn got together, I liked how Eva had a bit of backbone at the beginning when she met him again after 5 years of them not seeing each other.

I thought Finn was a bit of a coward and selfish but as his story came out about why he left for the fame and fortune had me understanding and I caught on the reason behind Eva’s past after he left her, what I didn’t really like was how Finn decided to stroll back into town after all them years and acted as if nothing had happened and how he thought Eva would jump into his arms, Eva I was sort of rooting for her to get with the new vet as it seemed that despite all that happened in New York she didn’t move on and only decided to when Finn arrived.

I thought personally she didn’t make him suffer enough and was too quick to fall for him again when she had been convincing herself that she was over him and was stronger and I found myself getting a little frustrated lol but I liked how we got both Eva and Finn’s point of view, I liked reading about the other characters and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were no ow or om in the background.

The ending I did think was a little rushed and I thought she ran to him a little too quickly and I was hoping that she might see the photo he took with the wannabe groupie on a site and jump to conclusions just to spice up the story a little lol and I would have liked to have seen an epilogue but I’m hoping that her sister will her own book as she needs a happy ending lol

Three Loving Words by D.C. Renee

Three Loving Words by D.C. Renee

tlw dcr bookcoverI hate you. I heard those words so many times from his mouth that they lost their meaning. His “three loving words” is how I mockingly referred to them. It didn’t bother me, though, because I hated him, too.

He was gorgeous, with dark tousled hair, full lips, a strong jaw, and a body deserving of a magazine cover. He was rich and cared for his mother deeply. On paper, he was the perfect husband. The problem? He was my husband.

I dreamed of a fairytale love story for as long as I could remember. I dreamed of a boy to fall head over heels for me and treat me like the sun rose and set at my feet, especially after living in the shadow of my perfect sister and never feeling good enough for my family. When I decided to earn my parents’ love in a dramatic fashion, I’ll admit that I never imagined marrying him would end up part of the bargain.

The kicker? Enzo Faust didn’t want to marry me, either. And yet, here we are, a man that I both fear and loathe is my “I do…for better or worse.” I just didn’t anticipate that it’d be more ‘worse’ than ‘better.’

I’m Paige Stiles, and here’s my story.

I give this book 4 stars

This book made me smile cry and laugh but not in that order, I liked Paige from the beginning but Enzo took a long time for me to warm up to him even when reading from his point of view but eventually he even made me smile.

I’m a fan of marriage of convenience books and this one was no exception, I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end but I wished that Paige didn’t cry so much whenever Ezno became snarky towards her and it would have been nice to see her actually throwing something at him instead lol, I enjoyed how Enzo became unwantedly jealous towards her and basically any man she came in contact with and you could feel the chemistry between then whenever they were together in a room.

I lked how Enzo told her parents the truth about how Paige always feels like she’s in her sister’s shadow hence one of the reasons why she agreed to this fake marriage and I liked Nora who was Paige’s sister and how Nora  always had both her and Enzo’s back.

I enjoyed reading how Enzo did a big tunaround and he went from being a very hateful, selfish, manwhore and misunderstood person to someone who became lovable and only to Paige but I thought she could have made him suffer more seeing as he made her suffer a lot, I liked how Paige became independent rather than living of Enzo and his family’s money and the nice gestures Enzo did for her made me like him more especially when he finds out the real reason behind the fake marriage, Paige I thought was a bit unreasonable then but from her point of view I could understand and it made the ending a lot more sweeter and a little funny.

I was curious to find out what happened next so I was happy to find an epilogue and I’m so pleased that it wasn’t a HFN situation which I do dislike.

Attorney Ashton Vance is the one that got away. When an embarrassing Photoshopped picture of put an end to his political aspirations, he blamed Jenna. It was me. His younger sister’s three words turn Ashton’s world upside down. He must ask Jenna’s forgiveness, but can he risk his heart a second time? Even if Jenna can forgive him, dare he hope for a second chance at her love?

I give this book 4 stars

This book was a good read, Ash took me a while to warm up as in the past he was quick to jump to the wrong conclusion which proved to me that he couldn’t have really loved her as he would have let her explain but as the story went on I could see that he loved her more this time round despite jumping to conclusions the second time round but Jenna I did like as she tried to move on the best she could but I thought she forgive him too easily especially when he believed his dad over her the second time round.

I did like the forgiveness theme to the book and I thought the ending was sweet despite the book being a little too short but it made for light reading which I’m happy about.

She’s just one of the boys, but with a new business in Copper Ridge, Anna Brown needs to change that. Her brothers bet she can’t land a date for a fancy charity event. So Anna turns to her best friend—the hottest bachelor in town—for advice.

Rancher Chase McCormack wants in on that gala. If Anna takes him, he promises to turn her into a lady. But the makeover reveals what he’s long suspected—Anna’s irresistible! Is his best friend prepared to be taken—heart, body and soul—by her very own cowboy?

I give this book 4 stars

I enjoy reading the friends to lovers plots especially when there’s a makeover involved and this was no exception, I liked this story because the h tomboy Anna needs a date for the annual gala because she made a bet with her brothers that she could easily get a date, so she asks her best friend the H Chase who she is secretly in love with and who is a love em and leave em kind of guy to pretend date her leading up to the gala and she agrees to him giving her a makeover which made Chase open his eyes to Anna and I liked how he became attracted her even if she was wearing overalls instead of a dress.
I liked the chemistry between them and I enjoyed it when she made the first move especially when it was done deliberate in front of one his ex one night stands, I liked when she proved to herself that she could look good just for herself and no one else, I liked the angst in the story and their explainations about why the way they were and I liked the ending but I think it would have been nice for an epilogue but I’m hoping there will be another story starring Chase’s brother.
